Geoscientist 

Tasks and Scope of Work
We are offering the opportunity to take part in interesting geoscience tasks within DEA Norge’s Exploration department. Together with the DEA geoscientists, the student will work with seismic and well data to develop statistics related to hydrocarbon column height and phase in known fields and discoveries in the Norwegian Sea. The results of this study will be used to help improve prediction of hydrocarbon columns in undrilled exploration prospects.

Educational Background and Experience 
Geology or Geophysics MSc / PhD student. The successful candidate should have a background in geology and geophysics, including at least some petroleum geoscience modules at University level. Some previous experience of 3D seismic interpretation is essential, and knowledge of Petrel would be highly advantageous. Basic knowledge of methods used for prospect analysis and/or experience in geostatistics is not essential but would also be an advantage.

 

Data Scientist 

Tasks and Scope of Work
We are offering interesting computer programming tasks within DEA Norge Exploration. Together with the DEA geophysicists, the student will develop computer programming scripts capable of automated scanning large amounts of seismic data.

Educational Background and Experience 
Data Science MSc / PhD student within computer programming and signal processing or equivalent. The successful candidate should have some theoretical and practical knowledge of signal and image processing algorithms and one or more programming languages such as Python, Matlab, Octave, C++, Java. Knowledge of the marine seismic method will be an advantage.

  • Proactive team worker, with the ability to work independently on own tasks.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • Fluent in English.
